VCM technology is designed for highly challenging material requirements in different industries. Users benefit with this technology by improving sample quality in daily lab routines which can open up possibilities to gain a new and better understanding of a material’s behaviour and characteristics.
The MeltPrep VCM tool is the first device to enable lossless sample preparation. With an expertly designed and precision engineered sample chamber, there are no dead zones. The process is highly robust and the equipment very easy to operate with samples typically produced in less than 10 minutes.
Vacuum compaction ensures that air inclusions are prevented, and even micronized powders can be melted homogeneously to form solid specimens with defined geometries. With the use of special PTFE separation foils to line the chamber, samples are easily removed and no laborious cleaning is required.
Why Use VCM Technology?

VCM Essentials – consists of the Heating, Vacuum and Cooling Units providing temperatures up to 300C with high vacuum levels and either slow or fast cooling.
VCM Tools – the modular set up enables a wide-range of sample sizes to be made with a Disc Tool equipped with a 25mm insert and a Bar Tool with a 10 x 40mm insert which are designed for thermoplastic materials with viscosities above 100 Pa.
VCM Inserts – to satisfy the requirement to study different materials behaviour and need for various sample shapes and dimensions, there are a number of standard disc and bar inserts available. Customs versions can also be provided.
VCM Accessories – reusable precision cut separation foils which save users many hours of cleaning and an essential temperature logger to monitor the VCM process are supplied with the equipment.
Interested in Spectroscopy? The design of the MeltPrep VCM equipment allows the integration of spectroscopic tools through a glass window above the sample to enable changes during melting and solidification as well as degradation to be monitored and investigated.
Need Lower Pressures? A special lower pressure lid is available for processing and producing low viscosity samples.
